Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India

Understanding the AYUSH Framework

In India, the government formally recognizes several traditional and alternative systems of medicine under the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy). Systems like Homeopathy have complete legal backing, regulated by parliamentary acts like The National Commission for Homeopathy Act, 2020.

This official recognition provides a strong foundation for education, research, and practice within the national healthcare system. It's important to understand this context to see where Electro-Homeopathy currently stands.

Is Electro-Homeopathy Banned in India? No.

While Electro-Homeopathy is not yet officially recognized under the Ministry of AYUSH, there is no ban on its practice, education, or research in India. This position is supported by multiple judgments from the Honourable Supreme Court of India and various High Courts across the country.

The practice is permitted as long as practitioners do not misrepresent themselves as registered medical doctors of the AYUSH or Allopathic systems and limit their therapies to the principles of Electro-Homeopathy. The system currently operates under voluntary councils and societies registered under the Societies Registration Act.

Constitutional Protection and Our Goal

The right to practice any profession is a fundamental right protected under Article 19(1)(g) of the Constitution of India, and court verdicts have upheld the rights of qualified Electro-Homeopathy practitioners. Circulars from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have also clarified that there is no impediment to running educational courses.

The National Council of Electro-Homeopathy, along with other key organizations, is actively engaged in advocating for the formal recognition of Electro-Homeopathy. We are submitting representations to the Ministry of AYUSH and working to provide the necessary scientific documentation and standardized frameworks required for its inclusion in the national healthcare system.
